Trials Assistant – Crop Science

Agricultural Magnetics Limited (AML) is a Dublin based technology company that provides innovative and practical solutions for the agricultural and food sectors. The patented spraying technology known as MagGrow developed by AML allows end users to reduce their chemical and water usage during the pesticide spraying application and also increase yields in the process.

Title – Trials Assistant

Reports To – Head of Crop Science

Main Purpose/Key Objective of the Role 

Contribute to MagGrow’s ongoing research and development programme through generation of empirical data (observation and experimental) from lab- and field-based activities.

Key Accountabilities

The Trials Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Assist with internal field trials to provide data on best practice guidelines, as well as product development and new product design
  • Accurate handling of samples and data
  • Contribute to analytical work to support decision making based on trial data: laboratory, semi-field and field based
  • Participate in demonstration events and trials with key customers
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, regulatory changes and other relevant information and feedback to line manager as appropriate
  • Represent MagGrow at appropriate industry events
  • Maintain local MagGrow facilities to a high standard
  • Operate in compliance with company QMS
  • Produce risk assessments for trial activities and work in accordance with all H&S and regulatory guidelines


Key Skills/Attributes

  • Prior experience within a technical, research-focused role, ideally within agricultural sector, would be desireable.
  • Demonstrate creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Contribute to ideas generation sessions
  • Experience with trial design in an agricultural environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and deliver to agree deadlines
  • NPTC: PA1, PA2 and PA6 would be desireable


Role Particulars

  • Permanent and Salaried
  • Based at MagGrow crop science facility in Cirencester, Gloucestershire
  • Some travel will be required: domestic and international
