RAU LUNZ Hub – Defra Land Use Consultation Workshops
RAU LUNZ Hub – Defra Land Use Consultation Workshops
The Government has launched a national conversation about land use, to inform its forthcoming Land Use Framework. This will create a toolkit for decisions that minimise trade-offs and optimise the use of land in England.
The Royal Agricultural University’s Farm491 and LUNZ Hub are supporting Defra with consultation workshops for UK-based businesses developing digital innovations in this field, to ensure their needs and priorities are understood. Where can innovation help improve the data used by land managers and policy makers?
We are offering two workshop options on 18th March 2025 and hope that you will be able to take part in one:
- 10:00-11:45, 18 March 2025 – online
- 12:30-14:15, 18 March 2025 – in person at RAU Farm491, Cirencester
These two workshops are specifically aimed at UK start-ups and other innovative businesses focusing on digital tools and solutions.
Each workshop will follow the same format. Defra will outline the scope of the consultation and the key questions Government needs to answer through it. We will then hear an initial response from The Land App on behalf of Making Land Digital, which has identified geospatial data infrastructure priorities. Then we will open the floor, to discuss those initial contributions, hear your hopes and concerns relating to the framework, and identify key factors you think Government should address in designing and delivering it.
If you can, please register here by 14th March.
The Government consultation is open here until 25 April. We encourage you to read the material there and respond directly, whether or not you can attend one of these workshops.
