Farm491 supports Cotswold Regenerative Agriculture Conference

Farm491 was delighted to attend and support the sell-out Cotswold Regenerative Agriculture Conference at the Royal Agricultural University on 4 March 2025.

Rebecca Waite, CEO of Cotswolds National Landscape, opened the conference by inviting delegates to do three things. Firstly, to ‘share’, whether this be stories of success or failure, advice, or simply sharing contacts, with others. Secondly, to ‘learn’, both from the speakers, the workshops, and each other. And, thirdly, to ‘collaborate’, this being so essential for advanced problem solving, gaining diverse perspectives, removing blind spots and building comprehension around difficult issues.

These are all principles Farm491 also seeks to foster, along with removing barriers to opportunity, to help us all to keep growing.

The rest of the conference sought to highlight how regenerative agriculture is different to sustainable agriculture, in that it challenges the notion that conserving or sustaining our environment is enough. Instead, it argued we need to be taking active steps to regenerate, and this can be done by improving biodiversity, enhancing soil health, rebuilding nutrient cycles and revitalising and reconnecting communities and landscapes. However, in tandem with this, we also need to keep in mind that every farm, and every farm business, needs to work within its own context. Indeed, there are many ways to work towards a regenerative future.
