Croissants and Questions – Achieving Food Resilience in the UK

Event Details

  • Venue: The Alliston Centre

Join us for our September ‘Croissants & Questions’ business breakfast.

This month’s theme is ‘Achieving Food Resilience in the UK’, with guest speaker Dr Karen Rial-Lovera.

The UK’s food system is currently optimised for efficiency rather than resilience, relying heavily on imports, seasonal labour, and just-in-time supply chains. This makes it particularly susceptible to disruptions that could lead to a collapse.

Dr Karen Rial-Lovera, Co-Dean Agricultural Science and Practice and Associate Professor in Agriculture at the RAU, is co-leading a project which aims to identify ways of mitigating the potential tipping points that could lead to a collapse and prioritise the areas within the UK food system that urgently need to strengthen their resilience to likely risks and shocks.

Hear more about the project and how it will build on stakeholders’ knowledge to deliver a transformation towards resilience.

As ever, there will be the opportunity for Q&A and to network with others interested in strategic land use, farming and food systems.

Advanced free registration is required.

Fresh pastries and beverages will be served.
